A little bit about me...
My name is Brook Nicole Strong. I was born July 10, 1978, in Tupelo, Mississippi. I am the third child of four. I have one brother and two sisters. Six months after I was born my family and I moved to Columbia, Mississippi. I attended Columbia Primary School for Kindergarten and 1st grade. In May 1985, we moved to Memphis, Tennessee. I attended Sherwood Elementary, Colonial Jr. High, and White Station High School. In 1996, I enrolled at the University of Memphis. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in December 2001. I began teaching for Memphis City Schools in January of 2002. I taught at Treadwell Elementary for six years. Then I transferred to Egypt Elementary where I have taught 4th grade math for six years. In July 2010 I graduated from Union University with a Master’s in Education. On September 16, 2011 I married my fabulous husband, Shannon Strong. During my spare time I enjoy swimming, exercising, and hanging out with family and friends.
I became a teacher because I believe everyone has a place in this world. I want to teach, encourage, and guide young people toward their place in society. I believe in setting high expectations for the students while providing them with guidance to develop emotionally, socially, and academically. I encourage students to build an intrinsic desire to learn by reinforcing skills such as independence, problem solving, and goal setting.
